
Combining excellent training with a compassionate approach, Kellen Jex, MD, has quickly come to be a valued and well-loved member of the Miss-Lou medical community. Dr. Jex takes a special clinical interest in colon cancer screenings, peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, liver diseases, esophageal disorders, gallbladder and bile duct disorders, endoscopy, colonoscopy, and much more.
Dr. Jex earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Mississippi in Oxford before completing medical school at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson. He stayed at his alma mater for his residency in internal medicine, serving for a year as chief medical resident. Following the completion of his residency, Dr. Jex moved to Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where he was a clinical fellow in the division of gastroenterology. Dr. Jex is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Throughout his education and training, Dr. Jex earned numerous awards and distinctions, including being named Resident of the Year two years in a row, the LSU Outstanding Fellow of the Year two years in a row, the Arnold P. Goldman Humanism in Medicine Award, and the Carl G. Evers Society M4 All-Star Resident.
